from YLEn Elävä Arkisto archive
(in Swedish language)

Söndagsöppet besöker Borgbacken (1985)
http://www.yle.fi/player/player.jsp?id=73790&locale=sv
Total time 18 minutes. In this episode of Söndagsöppet we meet Linnanmäki legend Sara Ekelund (the wife of managing director Bo Ekelund) who introduces the amusement park and its history to her grandchild. According to YLE Archives, the year is 1985. This program contains two tiny snippets of the legendary Fairytale Train / Ghost Train facade (created presumably by Willy Willumsen), so keep your eyes open! The facade is is also photographed from above (from the ferris wheel) beginning approximately at 11:13.

Pål Pressli på Borgbacken (1985)
http://www.yle.fi/player/player.jsp?name=
El%E4v%E4+arkisto%2F03981_1&locale=sv
Total time 4 minutes. In this special program the Swedish ventriloquist Pål Pressli visits some attractions at Linnanmäki - including surprisingly lengthy footage from INSIDE the Fairytale Train / Ghost Train. According to YLE Archives, the year is 1985. The journey inside the ghost train is slightly edited, but includes such legendary characters as "The Stretching Man" and "Shrouded Ghost" - and contains also the very nostalgic horn sounds. The ghost train footage begins at 1:35.

Lilla O och Molly på Borgbacken (1989)
http://www.yle.fi/player/player.jsp?id=73777&locale=sv
Another Swedish program takes us to Linnanmäki amusement park in the summer of 1989 (according to YLE Archives). This children's program offers two snippets of the original green facade of the Horror Castle. The first section begins at 8:34.

The New 1995 Facade Figure for
Linnanmäki's "House of Secrets"
The Same Facade Figure at Tykkimäki's Mysteerio

In 1995 Linnanmäki's original spooky House of Secrets was remodeled slightly into a more child-friendly direction. The attraction got a new facade and a new name "Ihme ja Kumma" (which translates literally into "Wonder and Weird"). The friendly-looking talking and moving facade figure spent only two summers at Linnanmäki and then moved with the rest of the attraction to Tykkimäki amusement park in 1997. The Tykkimäki attraction got a new name Mysteerio. This facade figure is also featured in the photo archives of Rex Studios'
official website).

The Mysterious Legacy Of
The House Of Secrets

Featuring some curious details which connect
the English Rex Studios Ltd and the American Distortions Unlimited with Linnanmäki's original The House Of Secrets, Wasalandia's Ghost House, Tykkimäki's Ghost Train (and Mysteerio), and Linnanmäki's The Haunted Crypt.

The Skull-Candles
First of the curious details that links Rex Studios to Wasalandia's Ghost House. Or then these candles have been purchased from another standard supplier, such as Distortions Unlimited. (Identical Skull-Candles featured in Linnanmäki's House of Secrets and naturally in Tykkimäki's Mysteerio - and also quite unnaturally in Wasalandia's Ghost House from the early 1990's till this day).

Controversial Gargoyle Mystery Begins
Controversial Gargoyle Mystery Deepens
This curious design detail links Rex Studios first to Linnanmäki's House of Secrets, then to Wasalandia's Ghost House, then to Tykkimäki's Ghost Train (and Mysteerio), then to Linnanmäki's Haunted Crypt ("Kammokuja") - and finally leads to the catalogues of Distortions Unlimited's official website. All these gargoyles, despite of their sizes, share a same kind of posture, pose and body characteristics. How come a painting of Distortions' very own gargoyle can appear in Linnanmäki's Haunted Crypt attraction, which is claimed to be entirely designed by Rex Studios?

The Vampire Connection (Tykkimäki)
The Vampire Connection (Wasalandia)
The third curious detail reveals that not everything in Tykkimäki's Ghost Train has been designed and manufactured by Rex Studios. An identical sleeping vampire can be found also in Wasalandia's Ghost House. The mystery is solved again by returning to the catalogues of Distortions Unlimited's official website, where these up-side-down-hanging vampires are sold as Distortions' creations and not as Rex's.
